Reminder, next meeting is Wed Jan 22nd

Just a reminder our meeting will be on Wednesday, January 22nd at 7:30.  Jim Gray will be our speaker.

Hope to see you all there.

Jim has been fly fishing, fly tying and rod building for over 30 years, the last 20 based in the Central Texas Hill Country.  Jim is an active member of the Austin Fly Fishers and the FFI Texas Council, and has served as both the President and Vice President of each.  Jim is a frequent presenter at Texas, Louisiana and Florida fly fishing clubs, giving presentations on Hill Country rivers, tying Hill Country flies, fly fishing for carp, fly fishing England and fly fishing for exotics in South Florida.  Jim and Jeff Hoelter designed the Llanolope, one of the most popular flies in Central Texas.  Jim also developed the Jim’s Damsel and the SB100.  Most weekends you can find Jim fishing the Llano or Colorado River, or when conditions are right, chasing carp on smaller streams and lakes.

Jim’s presentation will be a practical guide to catching carp on local lakes and rivers. Jim has caught over 1000 carp on fly and will share his proven techniques

Jan 14th, NBFF Fly tie night, the Thinmint

Happy New Year to all.  This coming Tuesday, Jan 14th will be our first NBFF Fly Tying session of the new year at the American Legion Hall at 410 West Coll St. in New Braunfels.  We will start at 7:00 pm.  Come in the front door and take the first door to the right.  You can bring your own equipment or we can supply you with the needed equipment.  We will also supply you with needed supplies for tying this months fly. This month’s fly we will be tying a popular variation of the Woolly Bugger, the “Thin Mint”.  It’s a popular trout fly on the Guadalupe.  This fly can be used by itself or as an attractor on your nymphing rig.  So come on out and learn how to tie this fly and also help tie some flies for the upcoming club general meeting, at the New Braunfels Public Library, (Wed.,Jan. 22nd @ 7:00) fly raffle.  Please note general meeting date change.
Hope to see you there.
