Sept 2022 GRTU river clean up

Glad to have our friends from @texas_women_fly_fishers at the GRTU Cleanup yesterday!!! Repost from @texas_women_fly_fishers
We participated in the
@guadalupe_river_tu River Clean Up today. The good news is that the river is super clean and we didn’t find that much trash.

SEPTEMBER FLY FISHING REPORT

To all who’ve recently subscribed to our newsletter: Thank you for joining!

It has been a great summer for fly fishing. The temperatures are about to drop as the fall season approaches. The changing seasons will increase different bug hatches. The fish bite will also increase as we get closer to the brown trout spawn. The annual rainbow trout stocking has already occurred on the Gunnison river. Some cooler temps and cloud cover should make for some great streamer fishing. September is a great time to book a Colorado trip to experience some epic dry fly fishing. It’s also a good time to reserve your dates for fall and winter in Texas. We’ll be targeting bass through October and November, then trout late November through April. Check out http://actionangler.net/ to book a tripbuy some gear or gift certificate, or get up to speed on the latest river info.

Thank you for supporting our small business. We hope everyone is safe and healthy during these difficult times. Sincerely,

Chris Jackson Owner/Lead Guide

Minutes of NBFF Membership Meeting

08/24/2022 – River Chase Park

Ron DeMeyer called the meeting to order at 7:45 pm at River Chase Park.  Thanks to Jerry Horton for reserving the park for our meeting.

Pat McQuinn reported 35 current members but some may be inactive.

Ron said that the planned outing to the Blanco River had a number of members signed up to go.

The trout feeding team reported good numbers of trout at Maricopa and Kanz but diminishing numbers at JDL and Number 5.  Pat said that he would announce another meeting of the team to firm up the schedule through October.

Ron asked if the members, who were going to become LAP participants, felt comfortable with the “Zoom” application and got mixed answers.  Morgan Ferry volunteered to contact GRTU and find out if they were going to do any sort of trial runs with their upcoming Zoom presentations required for LAP.  If not, Morgan will create a dummy meeting so that those of us that want can test their connections, ability, etc.

Ron reminded the members of the upcoming GRTU Fall River Clean-up that will be held on September 10th.  Volunteers will meet at Rio Guadalupe at 9:00 a.m.

There was no update on the Holdover Tournament requests for donations that were sent to Academy and Bass Pro Shop/Cabela’s.

The September 28th meeting will be held at New Braunfels Library.  Our speaker will be Jim Gray.  Jim’s topic for the evening is “Fly Fishing the Colorado River”.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.
