Parks and Rec stocking

We had some surplus rainbow trout this year – 1,047 were stocked in Blanco State Park today and a total of 4,000 will be stocked in the Guadalupe River tomorrow. 2,000 trout will be stocked at Guadalupe Park (just downstream of Canyon Lake dam) and 2,000 will be stocked at Camp Huaco Springs. These locations were chosen because they provide free public access and have suitable temperatures for trout (<70 F), even at the close of the trout stocking season. Trout stocking will resume in December 2022, details of which will be posted on our website about that time.

NBFF Web page Education Tab updated

In the meantime, head over to our web page and look under the education tab for some new updates, A Guide to Matching the Hatch, 7 Core Fishing Knots, and 12 Trout Fishing Tips.

Even though it is 80+ one day and then 34 the next, there is still a lot of fish out there. The spawn has started so egg’s are productive along with WD40’s, Zebra Midges, emergers, and good ol San Juan worms.
