Orvis Free Fly Tying Class

You’ve always wanted to learn to tie your own flies but just couldn’t find the time. Now you can get a free two-hour introductory lesson with expert instruction and all tools and materials supplied, and leave the class with your first personally tied fly.
The FT101 Class will focus on tying the Woolly Bugger-a great pattern for not only catching fish anywhere, but learning basic tying skills as well. Sign up for any one of our FT101 classes beginning January 29th. Hurry, space is limited.

In addition to our in person Fly Tying 101 classes, we have also curated a lineup of Fly Tying 201 virtual classes to continue learning new skills. Join us for this five-class series hosted by renowned fly-fishing mentor, Tom Rosenbauer every Thursday @ 8pm ET from February 10th through March 10th. Gift Bags for GRTU Youth camp donated by NBFF

The New Braunfels Fly Fishers provided gift bags of fly fishing accessories to the GRTU Youth Trout Camp participants to facilitate their quest to be proficient fly fishers.  The gift bags consisted of a fly box, nippers, forceps, zingers, an assortment of flies, leaders and tippets.  Many thanks to the Umpqua Company for donating the leader and tippet and Action Angler for helping us sourcing some items.  The flies were tied or donated by members of NBFF:  Ed Sweet, Gary Nyland, Jeff O’Bara, Ed Finger, Dick Holte and Ron Skarbowski.

The bags were presented on January 14th to Dakus Geeslin, GRTU Youth Chairman, by Pat McQuinn and Ron DeMeyer.

New Braunfels Fly Fishers meeting Jan 26th

The New Braunfels Fly Fishers will meet at the New Braunfels Public Library at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 26th.  Our speaker for the evening will by Dylan Mendoza of Dylan Mendoza Fly Fishing.  Dylan’s subject will be “Fly Fishing the Texas Coastal Bend”.
